The academic year of the fishing clubs in Győrvár ended with experiences
The closeness to nature, waterfront experiences and the love of sport fishing are becoming available to more and more children within the framework of school sport fishing clubs. With the support of the Hungarian National Fishing Association (MOHOSZ), more and more schools in Vas County are joining this useful and experience-rich program. The aim of the clubs is for young people to learn the basics of environmentally conscious fishing and discover a meaningful, nature-friendly hobby for themselves.

During the professional circle sessions, students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge: they become familiar with domestic fish species, fishing equipment, fishing rules, and special regulations for child anglers. The program also enriches the participants' everyday lives with playful, experiential learning and community experiences.
In the 2023/2024 school year, a total of 127 schoolchildren from Vas County participated in the school sport fishing clubs. This school year, 5 clubs are taking place at four locations, with the participation of nearly 100 children. During the sessions, the children learned how to mix bait, cast to the target, use various tools, and gained insight into the basics of feeder rod, float and other methods.
On Thursday, March 27, 2025, the two fishing clubs of the Béri Balogh Ádám Primary School in Győrvári closed the “fishing year” with a demonstration fishing trip. The children arrived by bus to the Vasvári Boating Lake, where the practical demonstration fishing took place in an excellent atmosphere despite the cool spring weather. All children caught fish, so they returned home with a real sense of success and good mood.
- The following actively participated in the implementation of the program:
- Károly Sipos, fishing guard
- Balázs Szekeres, fishing guard,
- László Laki, president of the Vasvári Petőfi Fishing Association, vice president of our Association.
The programs will continue in the elementary schools of Rábapaty, Rum and Sárvár in the 2024/2025 school year.
We hope that we can soon welcome the participants of the professional circles as active anglers of the Vásárhely waters, or even as future competitors!
