Posthumous recognitions, reports and future plans
The Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations held its traditional annual review meeting at the Vaskerestes Fishing Tourism Center on May 30, 2026.
The event was opened by Miklós Seregi, the president of the Association , who greeted the delegates, officials, invited guests and professional partners present. At the beginning of the Delegates’ Meeting, the participants observed a minute of silence in memory of fellow anglers and officials who had passed away in the past. They paid their respects to Zsolt Kőrös, president of the Hegyfalu and Vidéke Fishing Association and member of the Executive Committee of our association, Katalin Kovács, secretary and delegate of the Szentgotthárd Fishing Association, and Elek Kálmán, former president of the Kéthatár-tó Fishing Association and former association official .
Before discussing the agenda items, President Miklós Seregi informed the delegates about the personnel changes that had occurred at the Hungarian National Fishing Association (MOHOSZ). He said that the MOHOSZ Board of Directors made several important decisions affecting the operation of the organization at its meeting on May 26, 2026. The outgoing President of MOHOSZ, Dr. Lajos Szűcs, entrusted Norbert Puskás, the Executive President of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations, with the duties of Vice President. The purpose of the decision was to ensure the operability, stability and continuous representation of MOHOSZ following the previous vacancy of the Vice President position. Miklós Seregi emphasized that it is an honor for the Vas fishing community that the Executive President of the Association has been given such an important national task, which is also a recognition of the professional work that has taken place in Vas County in recent years.
In accordance with tradition, the awards were presented afterwards. This year's awards ceremony was particularly difficult. Fellow anglers, leaders and community members were remembered who can no longer be with us, even though their lives and work were a defining part of fishing in Vásárlón. They all did a lot for their communities, associations and the cause of fishing, and the results of their work can still be seen and felt today. It is particularly painful that they can no longer receive their recognition in person, but we considered it important to express our gratitude and respect on behalf of the entire fishing community for everything they did for us during their lives. Their memory and exemplary work will live on in our communities, said President Miklós Seregi and Executive President Norbert Puskás, and then they jointly presented the posthumous recognition to the family members of the awardees and representatives of the associations.
The award for “Fishing in Vas County” was posthumously awarded to Katalin Kovács, secretary of the Szentgotthárd Fishing Association . Kati served the Szentgotthárd fishing community for more than a decade, always doing her work conscientiously, helpfully and with the interests of the community in mind. She played a decisive role in performing administrative tasks, organizing events and managing the everyday affairs of anglers. With her dedication and humanity, she left a lasting mark on local fishing life.
Also awarded the “For Fishing in Vas County” award posthumously was Jenő Adorján, president of the Zalaszentmihály Anglers Association and member of the Executive Committee of our Association . During his presidency, significant developments and fishing tourism investments were implemented at Lake Zalaszentmihály. He always actively supported the goals of the association, while also building his own community in an exemplary manner. Many people respected and esteemed him for his helpfulness, community approach and friendly personality.
The posthumous recipient of the “For the Fishing Sport of Vas County” award was Károly Mészáros, the founding president of the Vassurányi Sport Fishing Association , who played a decisive role in the establishment and development of the Vassurányi fishing community. Since the association was founded, he has worked tirelessly to develop the lake and its surroundings, as well as to strengthen community life. Without his work, Vassurányi Lake would not play such a significant role in the life of the settlement today.
Also posthumously awarded the “For the Fishing Sport of Vas County” award was Zsolt Kőrös, president of the Hegyfalu and Region Fishing Association and member of the Executive Committee of our association. As president and association official, he considered the development of local fishing life, the cohesion of communities and the transmission of fishing values to be important. His work was always characterized by openness, cooperation and helpfulness.
After the award ceremony, among the personal decisions, the delegates unanimously approved the membership of the Executive Committee of Bertha Szabolcs , who will continue her work as a delegate of the Hegyfalu and its Region Fishing Association in place of the deceased Zsolt Kőrös.
During the professional report, Executive President Norbert Puskás evaluated the past year. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of community cooperation and thanked all those who contributed to the development of fishing in Vásárlón last year for their work. He highlighted that the membership of the Association still numbers nearly 12 thousand people, while the organization's assets and infrastructure continued to grow. Fish stocking, waterfront developments, fishing tourism investments, and children's and youth programs continued last year. The events and competitions were once again held with significant interest, strengthening the cohesion of one of the largest civil communities in the county.
The Delegate Assembly adopted the Association's 2025 financial report and public benefit report. The organization closed the year with a positive result of HUF 62.68 million. The balance sheet total was HUF 383.4 million, and the annual revenue was HUF 499.5 million, which creates a solid foundation for future developments and the achievement of professional goals.
The delegates also approved the work plan and budget for 2026. The Association expects to have revenues of HUF 448.7 million and expenses of HUF 447.8 million in the coming year. The plans continue to focus on the development of fishing waters, the strengthening of fishing tourism, the education of new generations, and the organization of community programs.
The Delegates' Assembly finally approved the Association's accession to the Sárvár Tourism Association. The decision aims to more effectively promote fishing tourism services and developments, and to further strengthen the role it plays in the county's tourism offer.
The Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations will continue to work hard to provide Vas anglers with an organized, fish-rich and continuously developing fishing environment, while further strengthening community life and the social appreciation of fishing.
