INVITATION - to the forum on the future of Gersekarát Sárvíz lake
Dear Anglers, Residents of Gersekarát and Interested Parties! We would like to invite you to an important forum, the central topic of which is the future of fishing and other uses of the Gersekarát Sárvíz lake. As the Gersekarát Hírmondó, Vas Népe, and several other media previously reported, the lease agreement for the right to fish the lake expires on January 31, 2025, and the settlement board has decided to take over the fishing operation of the lake.
The decision surprised many locally and in Vas County, and since then civilians and fishermen have launched a petition in order to retain the right to fish management of the lake by the Association. In just a few days, hundreds of signatures were collected in support of keeping the lake open to all federal anglers under the previous conditions. We would like to thank all the fishermen and supporters who have so far stood up for the extension of the fishing rights of the Sárvíz lake in Gersekarát! The forum organized by us provides an opportunity for all concerned residents and anglers to express their opinions, ask questions, and together we can find a reassuring solution to this unusual situation. Within the framework of the forum, the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations and its activities will also be presented, so that comprehensive information about the organization is available to everyone.
We hope that the representative body of the settlement will also participate in the event, so that we can discuss this important topic directly with the residents and the fishermen together.

In connection with the event, we are attaching our previous information containing the detailed history of the case, so that everyone can get a comprehensive picture of the situation. ( Available here. ) This decision is not only an economic disadvantage for fishermen, but also raises many questions regarding the long-term fishing sustainability of the lake and the protection of its fish stock.
Our association continues to keep the interests of fishermen in mind and is committed to maintaining the lake's fishing rights. We hereby respectfully ask the Municipality of Gersekarát to review its decision and use the financial resources intended for the compensation of our Association and the operation of the fishing pond for the further renovation of the beach of Lake Sárvíz or for the developments considered important by the population living in the settlement.
