In memoriam - Imre Gerencsér (1962–2026)
It is with deep sorrow that we say goodbye to Imre Gerencsér, Geri, our beloved fishing friend, who passed away in the 64th year of his life.
Geri was an active and respected member of the Vas County fishing community for many decades. As a police liaison, he assisted our Association in its fish protection work for over twenty years, and did much to promote good cooperation between the police and the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations.
Fishing was his true passion. He was the initiator and organizer of numerous police fishing competitions, participated in the competitive sports of our Association, and organized the pair dwarf catfish catching competition for more than fifteen years. He also worked for the community for many years as a board member and delegate in the Electricians' Sports Fishing Association.
Our Association recognized his work for fishing in Vas County with the Vas County Fishing Sport Award in 2019.
Imre was a fishing friend you could always count on. His willingness to help, his selfless work for the community, and the experiences we had together at the water's edge will stay with us for a long time.
Geri, we thank you for everything you have done for the Vas County fishing community.
We express our sincere condolences to his family, relatives, friends and all his fellow fishermen.

His funeral service after cremation will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 2:45 p.m. at the Jáki út funeral home in Szombathely. At the family's request, we can remember him with a flower or a silent tribute, without expressing condolences.
Rest in peace!
Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations
