Fishing guides and volunteers competed in Kerkavalva

The traditional 2024 official fishing competition was held on Saturday, October 12, in Kerkafalva. A total of 11 teams and 22 association leaders competed in the competition. The event was originally planned for the second weekend of September, but was postponed due to the extreme cold weather. Finally, the event took place on a pleasant autumn day, where the competitors were welcomed by the wonderful landscape of Zala and the hospitality at the Kéthatár lake.

The morning greeting was given by Norbert Puskás , representing the association, and then he explained the technical details. Before the draw, György Beck , board member of the Kerkafalv Kéthatár-tó Horgásgegyesület, spoke to those present. He said that the association was founded 16 years ago, and since then it has been possible to build an active community by creating the Kéthatár lake in Kerkaval. The association boasts a stable membership of over a hundred people, and the lake has become the central venue for many fishing competitions and other events.

The friendly competition was not only about catching fish, but also about community building and learning from each other. Competitors battled for the fish for four hours, but despite the cold water and warm sun, the fish were not always cooperative. During the morning, the local association provided the competitors and their companions with delicious sandwiches to ensure their well-being and energy.

The competitors caught carp, bream and bream. At the end of the day, the competition was won by Attila Mátyás and Ferenc Nagy from the Kerkafalv Kéthátar-tó HE team, who secured the victory with their catch of 10,870 grams.

Ferenc Pajtli and Tibor Pajtli finished in second place with a catch of 6950 grams, representing Spartacus HE.

The third place was won by the duo of István Fördős and Gábor Szabó , also from the Spartacus HE team.

At the end of the competition, the participants took part in a joint lunch, where association leader Dezső Gaál and his assistants treated the attendees to delicious Zala wild boar stew. At the announcement of the results, the winning couples could return home with cups and medals. The event with a good atmosphere was a great opportunity to deepen fishing relations and discuss current fishing problems.
