Exciting race weekend in Döröske

The 2025 “Best Sport Angler on the Vasi Vizeken” competition series continued on May 17–18 at the picturesque Döröskei Reservoir. During the weekend, hobby, youth and competitive anglers were able to compete on separate days. The event took place in a great atmosphere, in changeable weather, and provided valuable experiences for all participants.

On Saturday, hobby fishermen and young people played the main role.

On Saturday, 26 hobby adults and 7 youth competitors took part in the Döröske Cup. The lake made its debut as a new location for the first time in the Federal competition series. The round was really fun for the anglers, as a variety of catches made the day more colorful, and there were also hooks: carp, bream, whitefish and dwarf catfish. The fish population of the lake was therefore well tested, and the development of the bream population was particularly noticeable. Several healthy breams between 40 and 70 dkg were also caught, which is an excellent sign of the developing fish population of the lake, which was restarted a year ago.

In the hobby category, Ottó Németh (Ölbői SHE) proved to be the most successful, with a total catch of more than 30 kg (30,920 g). Zoltán Horváth (15,670 g) and Kevin Szalai (10,250 g) also made it to the podium. Thanks to several beautiful carp weighing between 3 and 5 kg and the large bream, the total catch of the adult hobbyists was 180,160 g, which meant an average catch of 6,929 g.

Among the juniors, László Czékus (Sárvíz-tavi HE) excelled with his 4,330-gram catch. In the close competition, Dávid Bálint and Benjámin Buthi shared second and third places. The seven young anglers competed in a common sector, in the deeper section of the lake, which resulted in more modest catches in the cool spring water temperature. The total starting catch of the seven juniors was 15,980 g, which means an average catch of 2,283 grams.

The total catch of fish during the day was nearly 200 kilograms, which is an excellent result. The competition was evaluated by Norbert Puskás, the executive president of the association , and the award ceremony was attended by the competition organizers József Mesterházy and Imre Gerencsér , as well as the mayor of Döröske, Marietta Horváthné Varga .

On Sunday, the competitive category followed.

Sunday's round was a competition for competitive anglers, with 18 competitors taking part. The strong growth of aquatic vegetation presented the anglers with a new challenge: catching the hooked fish required serious technical knowledge. The newly created course was tested using float technique. Several managed to catch wonderful breams, 3–4 kilo carp, as well as several breams and crucians. Despite the difficult course, good results were achieved, with the competitors catching a total of 129,340 grams of fish – an average of nearly 7.2 kg per person.

The biggest catch was won by Bálint Varga (Elektromosok SHE), who was able to stand on the top step of the podium with a performance of almost 20 kg (19,690 g). Second place went to András Bárdics (Spartacus HE) with 10,420 grams, while third place went to Attila Vámos (Spartacus HE) with a catch of 15,980 grams.

Managing Director Norbert Puskás was assisted in the organization of the competition by fisheries officer Dániel Szabó , and fisheries officers Róbert Pass and Károly Sipos were involved in the weighing process – we would like to thank our colleagues for their work.
The announcement of the results on Sunday was also honored by the presence of the mayor of Döröske, Marietta Horváthné Varga . The mayor congratulated the winners and emphasized that Döröske Village welcomes the fishermen and their families back with love throughout the year.
