Commemoration and presidential recognition at the IB meeting
The Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations held its first quarterly Executive Committee meeting on May 7, 2026 in Vaskeresztes, at the Association's headquarters.
Before the meeting began, those present remembered the association officials who had passed away in the past. In the first half of January 2026 , Zsolt K őrös, president of the Hegyfalu és Vidéke Horgász Egyesület and member of the Executive Committee of our Association, passed away. A few weeks later, we also lost Katalin Kovács, secretary of the Szentgotthárd Horgász Egyesület and member of the Assembly of Delegates of our Association. In mid-April, our community suffered another loss: Elek Kálmán, former president of the Kéthatár-tó Horgász Egyesület and former member of the Executive Committee and Supervisory Committee of our Association, passed away. The management of the Association and those present paid tribute to their memory with a minute of silence.
During the meeting, the leadership of the Association discussed several important professional, management and development issues. The agenda included, among others, the preparation of the county delegate meeting, the competition fishing support program, the 2026 business plan of Vasi Vizeken Kft., and the MOHOSZ – MAHOP Plusz–1.3.1-2025. project preparation and planning cost support application, which serves to lay the foundation for future fish and habitat protection developments in the Rába River and Kis Rába.
Awards are not usually presented at the beginning of the Executive Committee meetings, but since the last meeting, there has been such human cooperation and selfless assistance that the leadership of the Association could not ignore.
Therefore, at the beginning of the meeting, a ceremonial ceremony was held to present presidential awards. President Miklós Seregi expressed his appreciation to four members of the Pölösk Anglers' Association:
- Tamas Dezso
- Gabor Bencze
- István Lövei
- For László Molnár.
The awardees demonstrated exemplary courage and human resilience on January 18, 2026, when the ice broke under a family that was venturing onto the ice of Lake Pölöskei despite the ban, putting three children and two adults in immediate danger. Thanks to the quick situational awareness, coordinated action, and selfless assistance of their fellow anglers, all five people in distress were saved.
