Jubilee fishing competition and commemoration in Répcelak
The Répcelak City Miner Fishing Association celebrated its 50th anniversary on Sunday with an atmospheric jubilee event, which included a fishing competition and a festive commemoration. The event was attended by many invited guests, former founding members and the leaders of the Vas County Association of Sport Fishing Associations. Attila Kádi, the president of the association, reported on the remarkable event, based on which we have compiled a small report.

Despite the gloomy and unpredictable weather, 43 competitors registered for the anniversary family fishing competition. Among the participants were many family pairs: siblings, father and son or daughter, husband and wife, partners, grandfather and grandson, all preparing for the competition together.
Before breakfast, the helpers welcomed the competitors with hot dogs and a commemorative cup with the association's 50th anniversary logo, which everyone was allowed to keep. At 7:50, the feeding began with a horn, and then at 8:00, the four-hour competition began. The first fish were soon hooked, while preparations were also underway on the shore: we waited for the children with a puzzle and dry fishing, and Tamás Karácsonyi was preparing a retro fishing equipment demonstration. Meanwhile, deer stew was being prepared in the cooking tent, which Tamás, moving from the rods, supplemented by frying fish for lunch.
As the weather improved, more and more people joined our event, including many young children, who had a great experience in dry fishing, where they had to catch 20 plush fish in the shortest possible time. The buffet provided coffee and cold drinks from the morning, for which we would like to thank Andi.
The competition ended at noon, followed by the announcement of the results and a brief commemoration of the association's founding.
